History

After the Cancerverse was corrupted by the Many-Angled Ones and the avatar of Death was slain, Namor was placed under the service of Lord Marvel alongside his fellow Defenders.

While the Cancerverse began to invade Earth-616, the Defenders encountered the Guardians of the Galaxy, who entered their universe in an attempt to stop the invasion. As short fight between the groups ensued, in which the Guardians triumphed, Namor having his head torn apart by Drax. Seconds later, the Defenders were back in mutated form, only to be swiftly vaporized by Thanos, who, as an Avatar of Death, was the only one who could truly bring about permanent death.

• In the Cancerverse profile in Avengers NOW! #1, though correctly listed in the section "Significant inhabitants" as a member of the team, Namor is erroneously listed as Silver Surfer in the Defenders of the Realm's pic.
