You were betrayed because you were never trustworthy. No one believed in you. Not your "friends" or "allies" or "loyal subjects." At best, they feared you. At worst, they wanted you gone.

History

Sub-Mariner's history is presumably similar to his Earth-616 counterpart's. He was formerly a member of the Invaders.[2] Decades laders, he unleashed a Giganto upon the Fantastic Four, but it was defeated when the group detonated an atomic bomb inside it.[1] Namor was formerly a member of the Illuminati, but he left the group after objecting to the group's plan to launch the Hulk into space. When nuclear war devastated the surface, Namor and his fellow Atlanteans were protected from the nuclear fallout and lived on. Decades later, Namor married an Atlantean named Nammu and together had a son named Leonard.[3]

When Namor learned that the Hulk had survived the nuclear war, was going by the moniker Maestro, and planned to restore civilization with him in charge. Namor didn't want that and ordered his men to go after Maestro if he ever appeared. However, his men mistook the Maestro's nemesis the Abomination for Maestro, forcing Namor to intervene. Namor managed to convince Abomination to help him stop Maestro and took his new ally to the Atlantean city of Pacifica. Namor later showed Abomination one of the means he planned to use to stop Maestro, the Android Human Torch.[4]

Human Torch failed to kill the Maestro, and he followed the android to Pacifica. Namor confronted Maestro after having a gaint sea creature restrain him. Namor tried to convince Maestro to give up on his plan to human civilization and live peacfully in the ocean with him. Maestro refused, and a fight broke out between the two. When Maestro swung Namor's sea creature at Namor's forces, a column was knocked over and killed Nammu and Leonard. While Namor was mourning his loss, Maestro tried attacking him but was stopped by Abomination. Namor then tried to kill Maestro for killing his family, but he, Abomination, and Human Torch were teleported away by Doctor Doom who wanted the trio's help in defeating Maestro.[3]

After drinking a large amount of wine over the loss of his family and talking with Abomination over their losses, Namor retrieved the Horn of Proteus and used it to summon a Giganto. He and Abomination then launched an attack on Maestro with Abomination luring Maestro out into the open so Namor could pit Giganto against him.[5]

Driven mad by the loss of his family, who he now saw as hallucinations, Namor had Giganto rampage through Dystopia. Maestro halted Giganto's attack by throwing a spear into its left eye, causing Namor to fall off. Before Namor could fall to the ground, he was teleported back to Latveria by Doom who scolded Namor for his reckless attack on Dystopia. When Doom tried electrocuting Namor, Namor shrugged it off and knocked Doom to the floor.[1]

Namor and Doom eventually made up and tricked Blonsky and Maestro into teleporting into a prison cell in Castle Doom. Blonsky and Maestro escaped, and Namor confronted Maestro. The two fight each other until Namor was haunted by visions of his past loves who chastised him for his selfishness, allowing Maestro to knock him. When Namor came to, Blonsky used Doom's computer system to hack into the Human Torch's systems, causing his pyrokinesis to go out of control and kill everyone in Castle Doom, including Namor.[2]
