History

Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, partnered with Hawkeye who was first with Hawkeye taking down the Hulk.[1] However, she began working undercover as a double agent for Hydra. When Clint realized this, Natasha claimed that he was the traitor, sending him to the Vault.[2] After S.H.I.E.L.D. found that the Black Widow was the traitor, Hawkeye attempted to take Hydra down several times. When Hydra waged war on A.I.M. for control of the Cosmic Cube, she revealed that she was sent on a mission to spy on Hydra by Nick Fury, who was the only person who knew about the operation. As he was missing at the time, S.H.I.E.L.D. still considered her a threat, so she turned to Hawkeye and the Avengers for help. The Avengers reluctantly agreed and helped her. They found Baron von Strucker's location but was interrupted when S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to perceive them as threats under the new leadership of Maria Hill. Once the team found Strucker, Captain Americahad stopped him, but due to touching the cube, inadvertently ended up resurrecting his old best friend Bucky Barnes. After stopping both A.I.M and Hydra, Natasha continued to go on the run.[3]

She later joined Nick Fury's secret group to hunt down infiltrated Skrulls and brought in Iron Man to inform him that the Avengers had been infiltrated.[4] She was knocked out by their queen as soon as Fury realized she was impersonating Mockingbird.[5]
