History
After several attempts, Sinister finally succeeded in his plot to subvert the Quiet Council. Despite being thrown into the Pit of Krakoa, he had already seized control of key council members, turning them into modified clones of himself.
In Sinister's absence, his sleeper agents on the Council began their work, corrupting many other mutants with Sinister-tainted DNA through resurrections before extending the Resurrection Protocols (and thus Sinister's corruption) to humanity. After lobotomizing Krakoa, the conspirators released Sinister from the Pit. He then returned to his secret lab and proceeded to observe the progress made his Sinisters from the shadows.
After five years, Storm, the only uncorrupted member of the Quiet Council, realized something was wrong and confronted them, prompting Sinister to reveal himself. As Storm fled, Sinister reclaimed his place on the Quiet Council, now ruling openly and securing his grip on the planet.
After another five years, however, the other Sinisters on the Council broke free from his control, with Beast overriding his top-level control imprints, and allowing the Sinisters to express their own wills. When Sinister wished to for the Council to focus on scientific advancement, he was outvoted in favor of preparing for war against the Galactic Council.
He decided to reset that timeline, rather than brook arguments from his clones, only to find that someone had stolen his lab and left him with no way to escape this new timeline of his own making.[1]
Crippled by the loss of his lab, which not only contained his Moira Engine, but also a kill-switch that would allow him to kill all the Sinisters, he decided to try and reassert control. He snuck into Emma Frost's bedroom to try and inject her with a compound to bend her to his will, only for his plot to fail as Emma had been sleeping in diamond form. As Sinister desperately scrambled for escape, Emma and the rest of the council apprehended him. Sinister managed to bargain and beg for his life, promising a new generation of Chimeras that would allow them to defeat the Galactic Council. He was forgiven and allowed back to the council, now going along with their schemes.[2][3]
+100[]
100 years after embarking on his schemes, the Quiet Council had ravaged the known cosmos, destroyed all opposition from the Galactic Council and created an interstellar empire without peer. Sinister and his chimeras had been vital to defeating the interstellar empires threatening them. With the last opposition soon snuffed out, the Quiet Council ordered an exploratory mission to chart the cosmos and find new worlds for them to conquer. To that end, Sinister perfected his chimeras, creating Rasputin IV, a combination of five separate X-Genes and genetically engineered to be the perfect hero and leader.[4]
Realizing his mistakes in undoing the paradise of Krakoa and unleashing the Sinister-strain upon the universe, and knowing that he had outlived his usefulness to the council, Sinister purged the strain from Rasputin IV, freeing her from its control. He confessed his sins to her, told her of the paradise that the original Krakoa had been, and begged for her help in finding the Moira Engine so he could save the universe and undo his mistakes. Rasputin agreed, and the two stole the ship and crew that had been created for her original mission and left to search the cosmos for the Moira Engine.[4]
+1000[]
Despite his hope that it would only take him and Rasputin a few years to find the Moira Engine, they would spend 900 years pursuing it. By this time, mutants had become the dominant lifeforms in the galaxy, while the Quiet Council had splintered into competing polities.
While pursuing a lead, Sinister and Rasputin found a message from Destiny on an Exodus Prayerworld. The message led them to an old satellite housing a phonograph cylinder with another message from Destiny. In it, Destiny told Sinister to come to her in the past if he can find his Moiras and that she will join him. She told him that the cylinder housed instructions that would allow him to find his Moiras, and ended the message by warning him to give up his quest to become a Dominion, as she could see that he would not succeed.[5]
Sinister was interrupted by Rasputin, who had been listening to the message and had deduced that Sinister was not in fact trying to save the universe. She attacked him, but he managed to eject her from the ship. Following Destiny's instructions, he sought out Moira MacTaggert, using her psychic imprint to locate the Moira Engine. Finally arriving at the World Farm, pursued by an Empire of the Red Diamond armada, Sinister approached the Farm's watchdog Jon Ironfire and told him that together they could save the universe.[5]
As the armada descended on the Farm, Sinister used stolen genetic material from Hope Summers and aid from five Arakki mutants to resurrect a clone of Storm. With aid from the reborn Storm, they were able to defeat the imperial forces, though it cost the reborn Storm's life. Just when the battle concluded, Sinister betrayed Ironfire and shot him in the head.[6] Ironfire had predicted Sinister's treachery, and protected himself, but was interrupted by the arrival of Professor X before he could claim vengeance on Sinister.[7]
While Ironfire and Professor X fought, Sinister finally made his way to his lab, managing to convince Moira to allow him to upload his knowledge of the past 1000 years into the Moira-clone, in order to ensure the timeline would not repeat itself. Now with access to his lab once again, Sinister decided to make a bid for Dominionhood before resetting the timeline. Using his kill-switch, Sinister was able to sacrifice every single Sinister-derived mutant in the galaxy, harvesting their psychic essences to push himself into a dominion. To his horror, he found another Sinister Dominion blocking his way. It prevented his ascension, sending him back to his body.[7]
Realizing that all his efforts had been for naught, a despondent Sinister did nothing as Ironfire decapitated him, just before Moira reset the timeline.[7]Personality
