Synopsis for "Cold Shoulder"
Iceman works with Prodigy, Madison Jeffries, and Surge to easily subdue a group of mutant dissenters who have proclaimed control of Utopia's water supply. He then details his daily routine which consists of a mix of leadership responsibilities and giving his fellow teammates a hard time, particularly Namor.
Eventually Iceman runs into Stinger, whom he doesn't recognize. However, she reminds him that they'd previously fought each other when she was a member of the Alliance of Evil. She expresses concern over rumors that everyone on the Utopian island is doomed to die. Iceman jokes that the rumors are probably true, but Stinger doesn't appreciate his macabre humor and leaves. She later takes Dr. Kavita Rao hostage, demanding a Blackbird so that she can flee the island. At Stinger's request, Iceman is sent to negotiate with her. He successfully defuses the situation and, over time, the two of them form a friendship. Iceman privately reflects on the fact that his glib nature and willingness to tell others what they want to hear masks his own fears that mutantkind is nearing extinction.
