History

Neutron before his Brood infection

Neutron's history is presumably similar to his counterpart's. He became a member of the Imperial Guard and wasn't trusted at first until he helped stop Deathbird from usurping the Shi'ar throne. Despite being almost as strong as Gladiator, he was never arrogant. He became romantically involved with his teammate Flashfire, though no one knew why he was attracted to the hotheaded Flashfire. Neutron also bonded with new member, the Earthling Hyperion.

After defeating Deathbird, the Guard went to investigate Deathbird's lair, Treasure World. When it was discovered that Deathbird had been experimenting on Brood parasites, they had already infected many of the Guard's members, including Neutron. Hyperion was only one to escape who was forced to seal the entrance to Treasure World and leave his teammates behind to keep the Brood trapped there.

Neutron and the Imperial Guard then escaped Treasure World and apparently infected the Shi'ar Empire, creating the Brood Imperium and turning the Shi'ar throneworld of Chandilar into their throneworld. Neutron and the Imperial Guard were opposed by Hyperion and were banished to the Negative Zone. The Imperial Guard were able to escape along with other villains banished by Hyperion. They went to Cape Canaveral to steal a ship to get back to Chandilar, but they were stopped by Hyperion and once again banished to the Negative Zone.
