Synopsis for "A Tangled Web!"
S.H.I.E.L.D. and an FBI squad continue to stand off outside Avengers Mansion, while Doctor Strange runs everyone else out of the room so he can deal with Victoria Hand. He transports both of them onto the astral plane, explaining that he knows an evil spirit is after him, can possess anyone, and is likely to be inside one of the New Avengers. The astral plane is the only place he knows where he can safely hold a conversation. Hand asks if he knows who it is, and he replies that he is afraid it must be Daniel Drumm, back for revenge after the death of his brother.
Daniel, currently in the body of Captain Marvel, goes to the front door to confront the FBI Special Agent who brought his squad there in pursuit of Victoria Hand. Daniel jumps to the Special Agent and begins yelling that the New Avengers are doing a psychic attack on him. He brings the man's gun up to his own head and fires.
Strange and Hand see Daniel Drumm on the astral plane. He gloats for a moment before tearing Hand's astral heart from her body. The crowd outside hear her scream and run upstairs to find Strange next to a dead Victoria Hand. Both S.H.I.E.L.D. and FBI agents try to secure the mansion as Strange tearfully apologizes to the room. Then he abruptly teleports away.
Appearing first in Greenwich Village (but not in the safety of his Sanctum Sanctorum), Strange magically contacts Wong and warns him to hide. Then he teleports again, with a jolting effort that clearly costs him, to Daimon Hellstrom's apartment in New Orleans.
Strange enters the quiet apartment, explaining that he feels he needs to warn Hellstrom that dangerous magic is on the loose. A news broadcast shows that Avengers Mansion is becoming chaos as Avengers, FBI, and S.H.I.E.L.D. try to understand what's going on. Finding Daimon with his back to him, Strange steps into his line of sight -- and jumps back, shocked, to find Hellstrom a corpse. Just then, Maria Hill and three S.H.I.E.L.D. agents enter the room behind Strange and tell him he is under arrest.
