Synopsis for "Something Rotten In..."
The New Mutants have returned from their space adventure. Boom Boom sulks about missing the adventure, while Karma mentions new team members Mondo and Chamber. Magma, glad to see Dani, asks the team to join their next mission.
Meanwhile, Cyclops and Magik discuss the fallout from an incident in Pilger, Nebraska, where mutants inadvertently caused human deaths. Magik defends Armor and the team's actions, emphasizing they exercised restraint and that the humans died by another human's actions. Cyclops acknowledges the situation could have been worse but Magik assures there’s no need for concern.
Boom Boom leads selected members of the New Mutants to their transport, the Pacrat II. Chamber questions why they don’t use a gate, and Magma explains the country of Carnelia doesn’t recognize Krakoa, so there are no gates. Dani questions the mission's approval, and Boom Boom stresses the need to help a mutant in danger, preferring to ask forgiveness rather than permission.
At the same time, Armor seeks Cypher’s help with a database. Cypher convinces a reluctant Mondo to communicate with Krakoa to set up a system to identify mutants still missing from Krakoa.
In Carnelia, Police have surrounded a building but fear entering due to losing men. The New Mutants arrive, and Boom Boom, speaking Russian, convinces the captain to let them help. Inside, they find a mutant girl trapped in a black sphere. Karma tries to possess the girl to bring her out, but the girl’s powers overwhelm her, trapping several team members in black tentacles. Mirage calls Cypher for reinforcements. Interestingly, Cypher chooses Wildside and his MLF ...
