Synopsis for "Creatures on the Loose!"

The Howling Commandos are sent out to eradicate a terrorist cell in Afghanistan who were purchasing tech from the Lords of the Living Lightning. They cut the power, drop in and raise hell. Zombie convinces two terrorist techs to purge the computer system by threatening to eat them, and Warwolf calls for a mop-up. Afterward, S.H.I.E.L.D. shows up to take the remaining prisoners into custody and clear out the terrorist base. Grogg appears to pick up the Howling Commandos and bring them back to Area 13. Grogg is piloted by Buzz.

Meanwhile, Nick Fury is flying Clay Quartermain to Area 13 to become the new leader of the Howling Commandos, taking over for Dum Dum Dugan. Nick and Dum Dum leave Clay in the hands of Bradley Beemer for a briefing. Clay and Bradley go over the dossier files of the core operatives in the Howling Commandos, and it is clear Clay is unimpressed with his new gig. Clay asks about The Warehouse, wondering where it is and if he's in charge of it as well, which he is.

The scene cuts to The Warehouse, which is not on site at Area 13, but in Antarctica. A massive explosion occurs, and Merlin is shot out of his holding cell. The S.H.I.E.L.D. guards were all eradicated from the explosion. To be continued...

Notes

In the Director's Cut version, the original script and concept art were included. Interestingly, it was noted that Warwolf's real name was going to be Deke. It also includes art for several inactive operatives not mentioned in this issue. For example, The Abominable Snowman is included and he makes an appearance in issue 2.
