Synopsis for "Pitfall"
Mephisto, disguised as a human, gives candy to some unsuspecting playground children. He tells them not to share, as food always tastes better when you keep it all to yourself.
Kyle Richmond awakens, on what he believes to be the threshold of heaven. An angel tells him that he wasted his life in sin and arrogance, but that he is being given an opportunity to work his way into heaven. He awakens in a hospital bed from a years in coma with a new ability -- a form of precognition that allows him to see crimes five minutes before they actually occur. Kyle resumes his Nighthawk superhero persona and begins to attack criminals before they've committed their crimes, including a thug who attempts to assault college student Becky Thomas. This preemptive crime-fighting quickly leads to Nighthawk developing a dark reputation as a bloodthirsty vigilante who attacks people without reason. Seeking inner peace, Kyle visits St. Patrick's Cathedral, where he's surprised to run into Matt Murdock. Putting together Kyle's recent reappearance with that of Nighthawk, Matt deduces that the two are one and the same and tells Kyle about the rumors people are saying about him. He offers to put Kyle into contact with Daredevil, but Kyle rejects the offer. Daredevil later appears after Nighthawk prevents a street gang from assaulting a man. Nighthawk grows frustrated when Daredevil tries to convince him to change his modus operandi and a fight breaks out between the two heroes. Although they initially appear evenly pitched, Nighthawk's superior strength eventually wins out and, in his rage, he unintentionally kills Daredevil. The angel that Nighthawk had previously seen reappears, but is quickly replaced by Mephisto who tells Kyle that he is claiming his soul for having killed Daredevil. Dazed by everything that is going on, Kyle finds both himself and Daredevil being whisked away to Mephisto's realm.
