Lundquist was an Nobel prize winning physicist and a pupil of Albert Einstein. He was the designer of the SOLAM machine, a giant laser that is powered by solar energy. It was stationed in the base of Cape Canaveral. Despite Mar-Vell voicing his concerns, Lundquist activated the machine. The laser overloaded and created it, Solam, a being made of amplified sunlight. It was destroyed by Mar-Vell.[1]
