History
When the Avengers investigated an unusually energy flare in the NWT, they discovered what appeared to be a massive crater which was actually a tunnel leading directly downward to vast hidden underground facility. While investigating the facility, the team encountered the Red Skull. After a brief skirmish, the Skull teleported away. The Avengers would later learn the facility was created by A.I.M. as part of a research on cosmic energies.[1]
