Numenor was the Emperor of Bensaylum, the "city of the gods" beyond the edge of the world.

History

When Numenor argued with his cousin Rita about her reluctance to marry, she suggested it was thanks to his refusal to find a consort himself. Upon meeting the Four from the Fantastick, however, he was instantly attracted to Susan Storm, and unsuccessfully attempted to woo her. Later he plotted with Otto von Doom to win her over, utilizing Sandman's powers to make her pliable to his desires, while "disposing" of Sir Richard Reed. This plan failed, and when Doom turned against him Numenor was stabbed and killed with his own trident.[1]

Attributes

Powers

Seemingly those of Namor McKenzie.

Notes

  • Although Numenor is depicted with grey skin on the cover of issue #4 of the series, he and the rest of the inhabitants of Bensaylum have human pink-toned skin in all interior art.

Trivia

  • Numenor is named for Númenor, a sunken continent equivalent to Atlantis, from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth series. His kingdom of Bensaylum also bears some similarities to Tolkien's Númenor.
