History

Obispo was a member of the Ruling Council that governed over the Scadamite population in the alien planet Scadam.

When the pirate armada known as Black Fleet approached the planet Scadam, ravaging other worlds on their path, the Ruling Council gathered in their chamber to discuss possible options. The Scadamites had several problems to present opposition: They have renounced to warfare generations ago, meaning that they had neither weapons nor soldiers to hold them. Besides, their culture had evolved to reject any aggression. The Ruling Council then concluded that their doom was inevitable.

However, Council member Durgan the Philosopher dissented, insisting that they should at least try and fight. Obispo voiced the Council's mind: Durgan's word were heretic and he was to retract. Durgan refused to do so, insisting personally to Obispo. Durgan was then expelled from the chamber.

The Council met again when the Black Fleet attacked a new planet, several parsecs nearer than the previous one. The greatest minds of Scadam tried to find a solution. Obispo explained that their position had not changed since the moment Durgan was expelled, also adding that Durgan had disappeared from sight probably abandoning them all. Durgan's pupil Tuskar, also present in the chamber, went after Durgan after this discourse.

Eventually the Black Fleet attacked Scadam, starting a week-long battle during which Scadam was defended by Durgan and his agents and by visiting superhero Her. All of them failed to save the Scadamite population, which was almost exterminated, even if the Black Fleet was also destroyed. There were Scadamite survivors, it's unclear whether Obispo was amongst these or not.

Trivia

"Obispo" is the Spanish word for "bishop" (as in church official, not chess piece).
