History

During "Operation: Eucritta", Navy Seals assassinated dictator Du Ke Feng. The names of the Seals involved were in danger of being revealed, and to prevent that from happening, Director Hill and Nick Fury, Jr. devised a plan to create decoy tapes of the assassination using the Avengers. Three decoy tapes were created to weed out the spy within S.H.I.E.L.D.. Each tape depicted a different Avenger assassinating Du Ke Feng; one with Captain America, one with Wolverine, and one with Hawkeye.

When the Hawkeye tape was leaked and threatened to be sold in a black market auction in Madripoor, Director Hill and Nick Fury, Jr. were able to pinpoint their S.H.I.E.L.D. mole. Hawkeye and his namesake Kate Bishop traveled to Madripoor to obtain the tape. Fortunately, the tape was destroyed during a face off with Madame Masque. Both Hawkeyes were saved and brought back to the U.S. by S.H.I.E.L.D.
