History

Hidra was a supervillain active in New York City. She carried out a number of crimes, after which she was captured by el Hombre Araña and sent to prison. She managed to get out of prison with a hunger for revenge and a desire to resume her illegal activities.[1]

In her new attack, she aimed to become the richest woman in the world by stealing valuable archaeological figures from museums and cash from banks. She distracted the enemies' attention from her by causing a flash outside as she initiated her robberies. The press echoed this news, except El Clarín, which did not obtain information; but then Hidra visited the editor of El Clarín, J. Jonah Jameson, so that he would publish a note where she challenged el Hombre Araña. The later, having read the note and following his spider-sense, tracked Hidra to a suspicious car, and when she saw him, she attracted his attention by assaulting passers-by. In single combat against el Hombre Araña, she knocked him out with a karate chop and took him away to lock him in a dungeon, with the idea of killing him when he woke up; but, when el Hombre Araña recovered, he stood up to her and fought her again, in the process finding the loot she had stolen. Once again, Hidra knocked out el Hombre Araña, but this time she believed she had killed him and, with her revenge fulfilled, Hidra went to rob a bank, after which she planned to leave town. However, el Hombre Araña recovered, followed Hidra's trail with her spider-sense, and joined a police car chase. El Hombre Araña caught up with Hidra's car and, struggling with her, caused a collision. Hidra was injured and was taken to the hospital with the idea that, if she regained consciousness from her, she would face a sentence of years in prison.[1]

Notes

Amazing Spider-Man (MX) Vol 1 165

The cover featuring some woman in bikini and the Hydra organization.

The cover of El Sorprendente Hombre Araña #165 depicts a red-haired woman in a bikini that apparently is supposed to be Hidra, even if she looks nothing like the blonde woman in tights shown in the inside, along with Earth-616's logo of the Hydra organization and several men in the traditional Hydra uniform. The story does not feature the Hydra organization, only a lone criminal woman that uses the alias Hidra. Admittedly, in the first page, the narrator (probably the editor) admits that the authors were unsatisfied with the results of the story.
