History
The early life and history of Storm closely mirrors that of her Earth-616 counterpart.
Origins[]
Ororo Munroe was a member of the X-Men, a group of mutant heroes brought together by Professor X to use their powers for the good of all mankind.[1]
After years as an X-Man, Ororo would retire from the life of a super-hero when the X-Men disbanded following the mutation of every human on the planet and the death of Charles Xavier. At some point, she married the Black Panther, King of Wakanda, and ruled by his side as queen. She was joined by fellow X-Men Beast, who joined her court as head scientist, and eventually by Jamie Madrox, who became Beast's lab assistant.[2]
She was one of the heroes that was given a piece of the Absorbing Man following his rampage in Washington, D.C. that ended in the death of the Avengers. However as Wakanda became a more isolated country, she turned over possession of the piece of Creel to King Britain.[citation needed] With meat growing scarce, leading to a global food shortage, Wakanda was converted into a sanctuary for what little animal life remained. The king and queen were advised by the Ani-Men. They were erroneously believed to be animals mutated and given voice after the mutation of humanity, but were in fact created subconsciously by the Cosmic Cube in Black Panther's possession.[2][3]
Storm was present when Captain America came to Wakanda with an army, asking for the Black Panther' aid against the Skull and to borrow the Cosmic Cube, which he had given T'Challa for safekeeping - both requests were rejected.[4][5]
Universe X[]
After the death of the Celestial embryo within Earth, the planet experienced a loss of mass and an alteration of its polarities, bringing about massive climate change. Storm's powers were also affected, hampering her control over the weather.[6]
Three years after the Skull's defeat, Black Panther and Storm were visited by a reincarnated Mar-Vell who had come to Wakanda seeking the Cosmic Cube as part of his collection of items to use in the Realm of the Dead. The Panther initially refused, however when Storm was killed by an attack by an army of Wendigos and was subsequently revived by the Cube due to the Panther's subconscious wish for her to live, the Panther turned the device over to Mar-Vell, realizing the extent of the cube's hold over him.[7]
Storm and the Black Panther then relocated the entire nation of Wakanda to the Savage Land (with the help of the Hulk and the X-Men now led by Scott Summers) to escape the Wendigos. They succeeded in defeating the Wendigos upon realizing that they were in fact composed of a single man; Jamie Madrox himself, who had fallen victim to the curse of the Wendigo. Storm, Black Panther, Hulk and the X-Men would then rebuild the nation of Wakanda within the Savage Land.[3]
Paradise X[]
Some months later, Storm and Black Panther were guests at King Britain and Medusa's wedding in England. There Storm was introduced to an alternate reality version of herself from Earth-1298.[8]
This alternate reality counterpart was brought to Earth-9997 after helping X-51 alert other alternate realities of the existence of a Celestial embryo growing in their planet's core. As a reward for her aid, X-51 promised to cure this version of Storm of her vampirism via a blood transfusion from her Earth-9997 counterpart. Storm gladly agreed to aid her younger counterpart.[8]
