History
Origin[]
Otto Howlett was a scientist and mutant that became the Superior Wolverine. He had an Adamantium skeleton on top of four pincers that came out of his back. He soon went on a rampage and killed everyone who he considered a menace on his universe, including Captain America.[1][2]
Superior Four[]
Wolverine was soon transported to Earth-616 along two other versions of himself by the Doctor Octopus of said reality, forming the Superior Four.[3] Howlett helped Doc Ock into attacking Mayor Wilson Fisk during his campaign, but he and the other Ottos were stopped by many heroes doing the same thing, leading to a fight that gained Fisk's attention.[2]
The Superior Four soon planned to wage war against any other version of themselves from the Multiverse in order to create a destructive wave across the multiverse in hopes that it would branche out and create dozens of new Ock variants.[4] When Doc Ock killed Spider-Ock, a more heroic version of themselves from Earth-2902, the other Superior Four tried to stop him after he absorbed his intelligence and became too exhiliated by it. This confrontation led to them facing the Supreme Octopus from Earth-8968.[5]
Wolverine and the other two Ottos surrendered themselves to the Supreme Ock, who told them about an old multiversal war created by other alternative version of themselves. When the Supreme Ock tried to return Wolverine to his original form, he and the other Ottos were rescued by Doc Ock, who was bonded with another version of himself and managed to kill the Supreme Octopus. After returning to Earth-616, Ock proposed to the Superior Four that they should rid New York of all crime and be better than the heroes of Earth, telling Howlett that if he stayed in this world he could be a citizen of Krakoa.[1]
Wolverine accompanied Ock when he faced Mayor Fisk after they managed to keep the city under surveillance with Otto's "anti-crime" drones.[6] When Fisk eventually turned on Ock, he used the Purple Man's powers to control Wolverine and the other two Ottos, making them attack Doc Ock. Wolverine joined the mind-controlled Thunderbolt Units as a super-charged Killgrave was let loose on the streets, but was later defeated by the heroes.[7][8]Notes
- Otto Howlett's backstory, as well as those of the other two members of the Superior Four, are not made entirely clear. Some issues of the Devil's Reign event treat them as having swapped bodies with heroes on their earths, similar to the Superior Spider-Man, while others claim that they have completely different backstories since childhood.
