—Ozymandias[source]My name is Ozymandias. For centuries, I served Apocalypse. His life, at long last, is over. The world owes Scott Summers -- and his family -- an unimaginable debt. But what price will he pay? Can one come so close to darkness... and remain pure?
History
Early Life[]
Ozymandias was a son of Ancient Egypt's pharaoh Amenhotep. His father was deposed by mysterious Rama-Tut, while Ozymandias was forced to serve him as general. Ozymandias had always wanted to take the throne that he believed to be rightfully his, but had no way to defeat Rama-Tut. Decades later Rama-Tut had sent him to the camp of the Sandstormers to capture man named En Sabah Nur. Rama-Tut, being actually a time-traveller from the 30th century, knew what one day Nur would become a powerful mutant Apocalypse, so he wanted to make him his heir and control his future. Ozymandias had slaughtered the Sandstormers, but failed to capture Nur. Later on Nur came to the capital anyway and opposed Rama-Tut. In the ensuing battle, Ozymandias used the opportunity to enter the Sphinx, which was actually Rama-Tut's time traveling ship. Ozymandias wanted to obtain the knowledge and weapons inside, but was intercepted by En Sabah Nur who now fully awakened his mutants powers. Nur hated Ozymandias for killing his family, so he used his powers to transform Ozymandias's body into living stone, and then also used the Eye of Ages to show him all history of humanity in a matter of second.[5]
All of it broke Ozymandias's mind, he became Apocalypse's slave and dutifully served him for thousands of years, too afraid to ever oppose him again.[6] He depicted the visions he saw in the Eye of Ages as sculptures, providing information about the future to Apocalypse.[7][6]
Final Horsemens[]
In 281 Ozymandias followed Apocalypse to Rome, where they recruited young mutant Decimus Furius. In 325 they then visited Persia to recruit Sanjar Javeed. In 1833 they recruited Ichisumi and in 1863 — Jeb Lee. All four were placed into stasis right after recruitment, to serve as Apocalypse's final horsemen.[8]
19th Century[]
Ozymandias was present when the Clan Akkaba resurrected Apocalypse to battle Dracula and his Vampire horde.[9][10] It was shown that he had been influencing members of the Clan for his own ends for centuries.[11]
Present Days[]
During her youth, Ororo Munroe, who would become the X-Men member Storm in adulthood, was hired to steal Ozymandias's magical gemstone, the Opal of Ozymandias. When he recognized Ororo from his visions, he let her go with the Opal, knowing that Storm would eventually be instrumental in Apocalypse's plans for the powerful mutants known as the Twelve.[citation needed]
Ozymandias was later discovered by the X-Men as they searched for Wolverine.[6][12] As he battled the X-Men, he warned them of both Nur's return and the coming of Onslaught.[13]
In Morocco, Ozymandias carved a picture in the wall of tomb of Apocalypse showing Cyclops handing over Cable to the Askani and Archangel taking to the air. Ozymandias finished his drawing and wondered if the "dream" was being extinguished. Apocalypse stepped up behind him and told him, "It is done." Apocalypse told him that humanity had reached its darkest hour and that his greatest enemy was nearing death. and that this is the best time to prepare for the dawn of his empire.[14]
While Caliban slept peacefully in his bed while surrounded by his toys and dolls. Ozymandias stood above him and told him that this will be Caliban's last night to sleep in the mansion before the storm comes. He told the the sleeping Caliban that he envies the friends that freed Caliban from Apocalypse's hold over him. He warns that Apocalypse does not give up his hold that easily, however and that when Caliban's pain is too much, he will return to Apocalypse.[17] Caliban had been hiding out in the tunnels since the Zero Tolerance soldiers stormed the mansion. Caliban told him someone told him that he is not supposed to go. Then Ozymandias revealed himself as the one controlling Caliban. He puts Cable to sleep and told him that when he wakes he will think that Caliban is with a friend and is safe. Caliban then follows Ozymandias out of the tunnels to go back to Apocalypse.[18]
...[19]
Ozymandias was present when Cyclops was merged with Apocalypse.[20]
Decimation[]
He was seen after Decimation working alongside Apocalypse again. This time however, he wanted to betray him, and be the master. When Doctor Foster was fighting Gazer, and was about to kill him, Ozymandias ran an axe through the Doctor, to force Gazer onto his side.[21] Later, when he called for recollection, Gazer was brainwashed by Apocalypse and defied him.[22] With the help of the X-Men, Apocalypse was defeated, and Ozymandias killed Gazer for defying him.[23]
Ozymandias was later seen again impersonating Apocalypse as the leader of the Clan Akkaba. The Clan kidnapped Jonothon Starsmore and fixed his chest, as there was a giant hole in it from M-Day, with a blood transfusion of Apocalypse's blood. After Jonothon refused to join their 'club', Ozymandias let him go, stating to his follower Frederick Slade that it was a part of his plan.[1]
The Apocalypse Solution[]
Ozymandias, using the Clan Akkaba, resurrected En Sabah Nur in the form of an innocent child, who began his indoctrination by Ozymandias and the Clan.[26] And later welcomed the newly ascended clan leader and former horsemen of death Archangel.[27][28]
In the search for Archangel's heirs, Ozymandias was hunted and interrogated by members of the Avengers.[29]Attributes
Powers
Ozymandias was originally a normal human, but gained various powers later on:
- Rock Form: His body was irreversibly transformed by Apocalypse into one made of stone.[7]
- Immortality: In this form he became seemingly immortal, as he already lived for 5000 years from Ancient Egypt to present days.[6]
- Regeneration: While his body could be damaged and even shattered, it would automatically reform itself with time.[29]
- Matter Animation: Ozymandias could animate the statues he sculpted, turning them into semi-living beings capable to independently attack his enemies.[6][12]
- Immortality: In this form he became seemingly immortal, as he already lived for 5000 years from Ancient Egypt to present days.[6]
- Pseudo-Precognition: Exposed to the Eye of Ages, Ozymandias's mind was flooded with the future records of human history from the 30th century.[7] As a penance for his crimes against him, Apocalypse forced Ozymandias to depict the information he had witnessed as sculptures. Ozymandias was doing it ever since for thousands of years.[7][6]
