History

This monitor with a painting-like frame could be used as a screen to check on several pre-fixed locations, including cells with hidden cameras,[1] or to communicate with other areas in an audiovisual conference.[2] Doctor Doom had one of these in his private studio at his New York State castle. It was used by a Doombot impersonating Doom to check on his prisoners, the X-Men, who were in specialized cells where Doom could test their powers and resources. Doom's guest Arcade also contemplated the screen.[1]
