History

Paradise was created by Kree hero Mar-Vell after achieving omniscience and destroying Death. While Paradise initially appeared to just be a new afterlife for those freed from the Realm of the Dead, Mar-Vell in fact intended Paradise to be a shield for the universe, preventing the Elders of the Universe and Celestials from meddling further with the universe.[1] [2]

The Paradise was a part of Mar-Vell himself, and constructed in the Negative Zone, where it soon began to expand, encompassing various worlds. The denizens of the Negative Zone believed that these planets were being swallowed, and sought the aid of Reed Richards to stop Paradise's expansion.[3]

Mar-Vell initially kept the truth of Paradise to himself, and charged his Avenging Host with bringing souls from the Realm of the Dead to Paradise. Here, these souls ingested shards of the Cosmic Cube to create their own perfect afterlives. These afterlives soon began to spin out of control into hellscapes however, and the Avenging Host began to doubt Mar-Vell's intentions.[4] [5]

Just as the Avenging Host launched a rebellion and freed those trapped in their own afterlives, and Reed Richards entered Paradise in pursuit of Mar-Vell, the Kree launched an invasion of Paradise. Mar-Vell revealed the truth to Reed; that he had orchestrated the chaos erupting in Paradise to break the cycle of violence. He halted the Kree's invasion and ceded his omniscience to Reed before departing in search of the first, core reality. [5] [2]
