No matter what my so-called superiors say, the multiverse does not need a babysitter, we need a mercy killer. And in this instance, I am the mercy killer!

Mr. Paradox[source]

History

An analyst of the Time Variance Authority, Mr. Paradox disliked the change that led the TVA to stop pruning branching realities. Wanting to advance his career within the TVA, he decided to "mercy kill" the dying timeline of Earth-10005 by using an unsanctioned Time Ripper. Before erasing the timeline entirely, he had the TVA Minutemen abduct Deadpool from that reality so that he could be spared for a greater purpose.

Paradox (Earth-TRN870) from Deadpool & Wolverine 002

Upon learning that his entire world was doomed to end, Deadpool stole Paradox's TemPad and went on a recruitment trip through Multiverse to find a Wolverine that could replace the one who died in his world. When he brought one to the TVA, Paradox dismissed him as "the worst Wolverine" and used his Time Stick to prune both Deadpool and Wolverine, sending them to the Void. He maintained contact with a variant of Pyro within the Void, who was Paradox's mole inside Cassandra Nova's circle.

After he broke his agreement with her, Cassandra Nova used a Sling Ring to leave the Void and went after Paradox, who was overseeing the destruction of Wade's reality personally. Nova used her powers to make him show her how to operate the Time Ripper and revealed that she intended to destroy all realities, leaving only the Void for her to rule. Wolverine and Deadpool escaped from the Void as well and tried to stop Nova, so Paradox explained to them how short-circuiting the Time Ripper could stop her plans, but also warned them that it would surely lead to a certain death for the one to do it. Wolverine and Deadpool joined in sharing the Time Ripper's energy together, which allowed them to survive it. Cassanda Nova was disintegrated by Time Ripper's energy, and Paradox was apprehended by B-15 who confirmed that Deadpool's timeline was now stable.[1]
