History
An unnamed gunslinger came to the ghost town of Whispering Wells in 1871, searching for a rumored Indian burial ground containing treasure. He discovered the skeleton of a prospector clutching what he believed to be a precious stone and prized it from the corpse's grasp, but was immediately possessed by the Spirits in the Stone, demonic entities which feed on the souls of the living. Seeing that the gunslinger had no soul on which to feed, they instead used his body as a host, a skeletal ghost accompanied everywhere he went by a churning dust cloud, but he was apparently unable to leave Whispering Wells. When the Hulk arrived in the town in search of Rick Jones (who had almost become one of Pariah's victims), Pariah sensed the power within him and tried to drain it off in order to escape the ghost town, but the enraged Hulk crushed the Spirit Stone to powder and the dead gunslinger immediately disintegrated, followed shortly afterward by the town itself.[1]
