History

Patty O'Donnels was a high school reporter who was always seen at school carrying a video camera with her. Idolizing reporters such as Edward R. Murrow and Dan Rather, Patty would film things she found newsworthy in the hopes of getting a Pulitzer for video journalism, though such a thing was impossible. Her actions earned her the nickname "Pulitzer Patty" by her classmates, as well as the loving attention of Robbie Baldwin.[1]

After trying to make a report on the cafeteria food, she switched to asking the students about Speedball, known at the time as Masked Marvel. She got a variety of answers from everyone except Robbie who only muttered like an idiot due to the fact that he was secretly Speedball and because of his crush on her, of which she seemed unaware of. She also filmed the janitor who freaked out when he heard that she planned to sell it to the network. As she began walking home, Patty found herself attacked by the janitor with a switchblade. Luckily, Robbie had been following her in the hopes of talking to her in private and transformed into Speedball to fend off the attacker. Patty, like any good reporter, began filming Speedball in action who fled soon after. The police arrived and identified the janitor as criminal Louis Perlongetti. Officer Phipps informed Louis that it would not have mattered seeing as how none of Patty's videos ever made it to network television. Robbie walked Patty home who told him that she was bothered by what Phipps said, but that she had a new goal of using footage of the Speedball. To her surprise however, Speedball came up as a blur on her camera, but she was undeterred and knew she would try harder.[1]

Patty began upping her reporting skills when she filmed a gang of smugglers in Hartford. Unfortunately, she dropped her purse and was forced to flee. The next day at school, the smugglers, lead by Mr. Zuit, arrived at the school and shoved Patty to the floor and made off with her purse. Robbie took off in hot pursuit, leaving Patty dumbfounded. Robbie arrived back with the tape, claiming that the smugglers hit a telephone pole and dropped the bag, and Patty was able to look at the tape. Robbie pointed out that their truck came from New York City and that he had a "special friend" who could take care of them. That friend turned out to be Rage who remarked that the headline would be "Videotaped Electronic Smugglers Caught in the Act! Teenage High School Student a Cub Reporting Star!"[2]

Patty O'Donnel became a reporter who reported on the activities of the New Warriors.[3]
