History
Paul Douek was a brilliant student and the top of his class at M.I.T. who ratted on the deranged Professor Tavin Tierney to the faculty. After being fired, Tierny attacked the college in revenge using a giant robot named Straggon. The rampaging robot and Professor Tierney were stopped by Cyclops, who happened to be at the scene. Knowing that he was Professor Tierney's target, Paul personally thanked Cyclops and told him he was in his debt.
Ten years later, Paul was an employee of Tony Stark, and lived in Boston with his wife and his son Emmett. He was approached by Cable, Cyclops' time-travelling son. Cable handed him over the remains of the Phoenix Cage once used by the Avengers in an attempt to contain the Phoenix Force, and gave him two years to build a miniaturized version of it, only revealing it involved repaying his favor to Cyclops.
Two years later, when Cyclops died due to M-Pox caused by exposure to the Terrigen Cloud, Cable returned to Paul and had him install the device on the heart of Cyclops' corpse. Months later, when Jean Grey returned to life, the Phoenix Force briefly returned Scott to as well. Before Scott died again, the device siphoned off a small portion of the Phoenix Force. The device charged itself up for months until it had enough power to return Cyclops to life. At Cable's safehouse, Paul explained the procedure behind Scott's revival, and they thanked each other.
A week later, Professor Tierney was released from prison. In order to test his newly-returned father, Cable facilitated him Paul's address. Professor Tierney's attack on Paul coincided with an important battle involving the X-Men. Cable gave Cyclops the choice to either help the X-Men or save Paul. Professor Tierney raided Paul's house with an army of robots, and Paul attempted to confront them and lead them away after telling his family to take cover. Cyclops arrived almost immediately, and took down Professor Tierney.[1]
