- The character of Blue Ear was made in tribute to a young child named Anthony Smith. Smith, who suffers from Mosaic trisomy 22, refused to wear his "blue ear" hearing aids because of the lack of deaf superheroes. This prompted his mother to write to Marvel, who subsequently created the character.[2]
