Notes
- Pellucidar is a fictional Hollow Earth invented by Edgar Rice Burroughs in "At the Earth's Core" (1914)
- "At the Earth's Core" was possibly an inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft's "The Nameless City" (1921).[9] Marvel Comics tied the works of the two authors in a story cycle going from Tarzan #15 (August, 1978) to #23 (April, 1979), whose featured protagonist Tarzan was also created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
- Burroughs created two other lost lands with dinosaurs: Pal-ul-don and Caspak/Caprona. An essay by Den Valdron suggests that Caspak/Caprona and Pal-Ul-Don would be islands of Pellucidar.[10]
- Caprona appears in the adaptation of the movie The Land That Time Forgot (based on the eponymous novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs) published in Marvel Movie Premiere #1 (September, 1975).
- Pellucidar was one of the inspirations for the creation of Savage Land, home to Ka-Zar.[11]
