Penelope Parker lives with her Uncle Ben and Aunt May when one day, her school went on a field trip to Osborn Labs' science exhibit and while talking with her best friend Mary Jane Watson, she was bitten by a Radioactive Spider much to her disgust which she immediately threw away and Flash Thompson proceeded to stomp to death. Penelope then began to develop spider-abilities which went haywire and she shot webs all over the walls. When MJ called for Penelope from outside that she would miss the bus back to the school, she heard it with her super hearing and had to disguised her webs, that got stuck to a trashcan, as a wad of gum which MJ helped take care of.[1]
Seconds later, Flash was spotted on top of one of the outdoor exhibits which Ms. Kraven yelled at him to get off of. However, he slipped and began to fall, much to the panic of the students below and Ms. Kraven who runs off to get help. Penelope quickly runs away and makes a makeshift suit out of whatever was in her backpack and saved Flash from falling before changing out of the suit and going about the rest of the day like nothing had happened. Penelope later tells Aunt May what had happened and asked what they should do to which May told her that she could use her new powers to help out those in trouble but as her civilian self, to act as if everything was normal and that they should wait to tell Uncle Ben later. Penelope was confused how Aunt May could love her after she had become such a "weirdo" to which Aunt May told her that it didn't matter and she loves her for who she is. Penelope then began to make plans of what to do next and using objects she had used in the past, made a suit and swings out to test out her new powers and identity as Spider-Girl.[1]Attributes
