History
A charismatic but chauvinistic politician based out of Washington, D.C., Senator Peter Krane used his money and connections to cover up the murders committed by his sociopathic son Arthur.[1] Senator Krane's offices were attacked by Symbiote Dragons during Knull's invasion of Earth.[2] Senator Krane subsequently affiliated himself with the Friends of Humanity and began appealing to and inflaming the growing anti-extraterrestrial prejudice in order to garner supporters for his presidential campaign - straining his relationship with Arthur, who was projecting an affable, kindhearted persona as part of a secret plot to assassinate his father and usurp his place as Senator.[3][1] Senator Krane's hardline stance won him the financial support of powerful corporations such as Alchemax - which sought to use captured extraterrestrials as test-subjects for unethical experiments.[4]
Over the following weeks, Krane continued his usual activities - holding rallies, conducting interviews, and securing the financial support of both major corporations and organized crime. Unbeknownst to Krane, the Carnage symbiote, which was being controlled by Cletus Kasady's codex from within the Symbiote Hive-Mind,[3] had taken over his son and was facilitating the infiltration of the Friends of Humanity by corrupted symbiotes under Carnage's command in a plot to assassinate him.[5][6][7][2] While delivering a speech to his supporters, Senator Krane was impaled from behind by Carnage and torn to pieces on-camera, his murder making him a martyr for the Friends of Humanity and their cause.[1]Personality
An outspoken and charismatic demagogue, Senator Peter Krane desires to become the President of the United States by any means necessary. Callous towards non-humans and those who would protect them, Krane uses his political platform to inflame anti-extraterrestrial sentiment in the wake of Knull's invasion of Earth, and openly admits he would call for the deportation of heroes like Hyperion and Thor, or even incite a genocide against extraterrestrials, as a means to that end.[3] Even prior to Knull's invasion and his affiliation with the Friends of Humanity, he was misogynistic and dismissive towards his communications director Gemma Shin, leading to her plotting to assassinate him.[2]
Krane's bodyguard Hank - sent to spy on Krane by Agent Anti-Venom under the assumption he'd been taken over by the Carnage symbiote - noted that although his outward behaviour did not change noticeably enough to alarm his son and close supporters, Krane rarely seemed to blink or breathe, and his gaze possessed a predatory intensity.[7]See Also
