Synopsis for "Song of the Man-Thing"
Peter has a dream in which he is living a normal life and is married to Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben and George Stacy are still alive. During the day he discovers that everyone has been having disturbing nightmares, and when he discovers that the Brotherhood of the Scriers has gathered in the city he goes there. The real Scrier has returned and has gathered his followers and appoints one of them as his right-hand man. When Spider-Man arrives on the scene, Scrier simply erases his memory of what happened and he leaves, while Scrier goes off with his disciple in order to remake creation and put all the universes under his will. Spider-Man is later approached by Man-Thing who makes him remember everything and takes him away to face Scrier saying that fate has chosen him for this fight. Spider-Man then faces Martin Zantz the warrior chosen by Scrier and he goes on a Earth where he is a rich, spoiled, self-centered celebrity. Peter realizes that this is not his reality and Man-Thing takes him to another one where he loses his life saving Uncle Ben from the Burglar. Scrier and Man-Thing make a pact: if Scrier's Sentinel wins, his will will be done, and if Spider-Man wins, he will restore power to Man-Thing's staff and make no further attacks on the Nexus of All Realities. Peter and Martin then begin a battle of wills and with the help of Ellen Salis, Peter manages to win and Scrier, impressed by the cunning with which Man-Thing has circumvented the rules of their pact, abandons his plans for the moment, but suggests to Man-Thing that he may have done exactly what he wanted. Peter immediately forgets the incident.
