History
An unpaid intern for the Daily Bugle, Peter Parker accompanied J. Jonah Jameson to an interview with Dr. Curt Connors, during which Jonah was bitten by a radioactive spider that had escaped one of the scientist's experiments. He awoke the next day with spider-like abilities, being discovered on the ceiling by Parker.
Learning that Peter made convention costumes, Jonah asked him for a costume to infiltrate a meeting of Starrox shareholders, with Parker acting as his mission control. He apprehended the Shocker in webbing and interrogated him for the truth of his son's death. Peter wrote an article about him, dubbing the new hero Spider-Man. Jonah however declared this name to be stupid and decided to call himself "Headline".[1]
