I just... just... wanted to be special... like you...

Peter Parker[source]

History

Peter Parker was the close childhood friend of Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy before her eventual role as the famed vigilante Spider-Woman. Peter grew up bullied for his nerdy and nebbish nature and was dubbed "Pathetic Parker" by his tormentors, often being defended by Gwen and growing more resentful of his peers over the years. After the appearance of Spider-Woman, Peter became an ardent fan of the vigilante, but was bullied even more at school for admiring the superheroine and longed to have powers like her. Fed up with the way his classmates had mistreated him, the young student utilized a formula stolen from Dr. Curt Connors created as a science fair project that transformed him into the Lizard to exact revenge for his years of abuse.[1]

Before transformation

Peter transformed into the Lizard again at his school's prom after being bullied by students there and seeing his best friend Harry ask out Gwen as his date, fuming with embarrassment and jealousy due to having romantic feelings for Gwen himself. After rampaging through the school, he was killed during a battle with Spider-Woman despite pleading that she stop her attacks, where he transformed back to normal and claimed that he just wanted to be "special" like her. His death would inspire Spider-Woman's heroic acts.[1]
