History
Peter Quill's life mirrored that of his Earth-199999 counterpart until 1988, when the leader of the Ravagers, Yondu Udonta, delivered him to his father, the Celestial Ego instead of raising him as his own. As a result, Peter's Celestial powers were awakened and he was forced to carry out Ego's expansion across the universe, destroying several planets and realms including Asgard. When he finally reached Earth, he was intercepted at Coney Island by the newly-formed Avengers and held in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody in a specialized cell. While still in his cell, he met Hope Van Dyne and the two bonded over their shared similar histories of having lost both their moms.
She realized that he was nothing more than a kid like her, so she broke him out of his cell. Once free, he hopped on a bus that seemingly went all the way to Missouri where he visited his mother's grave and was comforted by Hank Pym who successfully convinced him to go against his father's wishes and stop his plan for expansion. Pym took him back to the Mojave Desert where Ego was using his makeshift army against the Avengers. It was there that Ego revealed the truth about killing Peter's mother, leading Peter to use his powers against his dad, destroying his corporeal form.
After celebrating their success and getting a new pet cat from Dr. Wendy Lawson, Peter and Hope joined the team on their mission to travel to space and destroy Ego's planet in order to avenge all the ones he destroyed.[1]Notes
