Phobos was the larger of the two moons of Mars.[1]
History
Secret Defenders[]
After escaping from prison, Nebula began gathering her forces on Phobos to launch a revenge attack on Titan. To stop her, the Silver Surfer sought the assistance of Doctor Strange. Strange help to recruit Thunderstrike and War Machine to Silver Surfer's Secret Defenders. Together, the trio was able to thwart Nebula's plans.[2]
Terraforming Mars[]
Following the terraforming of Mars, Olympus Mons began erupting. The continued eruptions caused a gigaton of dust to create a storm that followed Phobos ("like a puppy").[3]
During a tense reconciliation, Nightcrawler teleported Cortez and Lost ten kilometers above the surface of Mars to force them to work together. Just as they were making strides, Onslaught forced Cortez to overload Lost's gravity powers resulting in her death and Phobos being pulled out of orbit and hurtling towards Arakko. The Keep was present for the "Phobos Incident" and launched several countermeasures, but S.W.O.R.D. was unable to save the planet. Arakko was only saved by Nightcrawler sacrificing himself to teleport Phobos back into orbit with his powers supercharged by Cortez.[1]
Terraforming Phobos[]
Furious with Krakoa for terraforming and staking claim to Mars, Feilong began working with Orchis. Feilong piloted a space shuttle to and landed on Phobos. After a brief altercation with Sunfire and Vornak, Feilong claimed Phobos in the name of humanity and began terraforming. Within days, gravity was increased, a greenhouse atmosphere was created, and multiple technology structures were built. During the surveying of the surface, Feilong discovered Nightcrawler's body and incorporated it into his science station.[4]
Following the conclusion of the Genesis War on Arakko, a defeated Genesis and her remaining loyal children War and Famine relocated to Phobos. After killing all of Orchis' agents, Genesis and her family successfully took over the organization's facility.[5]Residents
Trivia
- The moon Phobos is named after Phobos the Olympian god of fear and the son of Mars.
