History
The Phoenix Force chose the time-displaced Jean Grey as it's host during her time in space. With the Phoenix's power, Jean was able to destroy the flesh body of the world devourer Galactus when she punched him in the face. After sometime being back on Earth, Jean and the Phoenix was paid a visit by the enraged psionic part of Galactus and his heralds, the Silver Surfers to enact revenge for what they did to their master.
Galactus planned on destroying the planet but Jean with the full power of the Phoenix in her psionically shattered and killed the left over part of Galactus and his heralds.[1]
