Synopsis for 1st story
Responding to calls for help across the galaxy has brought Jean Grey to exhaustion. Finally finding a moment to lie down, a proximity alert brings her out of bed and into the stars. Investigating the failing foreign craft nearing the Blackbird, she goes in to rescue the one life-form she senses, surprised to find her step-father, the Starjammer Corsair. His ship explodes, and the Phoenix emerges holding Corsair in a telekinetic bubble.
On Adani’s world, the girl buries her father before his killer questions her. She attacks Perrikus with her shovel, to no effect. The dark god kneels and asks the girl what her father loved most. Impressing on her the error of her father’s value in faith rather than wielding strength, he bestows his power to Adani.
In the Blackbird, Jean telepathically updates Scott on his father, warned of his trickery by her husband before Corsair barges into the cockpit in a towel. He informs her of a plot he discovered on Gameworld involving the Black Order and missing persons, but that his investigation led to the destruction of his ship. Jean is unsure of his story, but Corsair insists that people need their help, and she tells him to put some clothes on and enter the coordinates of the moon he followed the Black Order’s ship to.
On that moon, Proxima Midnight barks orders at a group of captured aliens travelling along an icy surface. An enslaved Skrull finally breaks free of his chains and attempts to run away, but the ice cracks under him, endangering all of the captives. Proxima raises her weapon against them, but is struck down by the Phoenix as she crashes onto the surface. Proxima stands up and leaps into further battle with her attacker, as Corsair takes on Black Dwarf. As the aliens begin to fall under the ice, Phoenix redirects her attention toward helping them, but is pulled under and brought to face with an undead horde of Asgardian warriors.
