Pier 89 is a pier off the Hudson River in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City. Ant-Man battled the Soviet spy Comrade X on a freighter docked there when she was sent to America to learn the secrets of Ant-Man's shrinking power with the hopes of using it to stage a Soviet invasion army in the U.S. undetected.
