History
Age of Acheron[]
During the Age of Acheron, circa 13,000 BC, Potosi was a mighty city.
According to legends, a wizard who lived in Potosi and bore no love for Acheron created the four-armed giant statue known as the Great Guardian from dust. When Lord Thun'da of the Snow-Mane, an Acheronian warrior, rode to Potosi leading a massive army, he was unable to defeat the living Guardian. Thun'da fled, and the Guardian returned to his state of unmoving statue, but legends said he would return when blood would drench it in a time of peril.[1]
Hyborian Age[]
Legends reprised this, but also came to say that the Great Guardian had founded the town of Potosi.[2]
Age of Conan[]
In the Hyborian Age of Conan, circa 10,000 BC, when Conan and Helliana were fleeing from the pursuing army of Count Grondee, then led by Thun'da who possessed Captain Kaanga through the Scarlet Sword, they stumbled upon Potosi, and sought refuge there. Conan soon decided to leave, hoping to draw the horde away, but Thun'da let them loose on the city while he kept chase with an handful of warriors. While the magistrate of Potosi panicked at the horde's charge, Conan soon returned, having defeated Kaanga and being now himself possessed by Thun'da.[2]
Led by Conan, the horde forced the gates open, sacked Potosi and slaughtered most of its inhabitants, until both the spirit of Thun'da and the Great Guardian were dispatched.[1]Residents
