Synopsis for "Doombringer!"
A mysterious figure wearing a super-powered suit muses at his new power as he goes on a spree of assassinations including an unnamed Arab diplomat. Jeryn Hogarth meanwhile introduces the Heroes for Hire to the Special Assistant to the Secretary General, Mr. T’Shumbe, who are hired to prevent an escalation between two rival nations at the UN. At the same time, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing are in the Middle East in the midst of civil strife between conflicting nations having been hired by the Uni-World Trading Corporation to find an attaché case and despair at the hopelessness of the conflict.
Back in Manhattan, Rafael Scarfe walks Danny and Luke through the city morgue and despairs over the conflict between the Middle Eastern countries having spilled into the streets of New York. At the UN, the Heroes for Hire try to maintain the peace between the leaders of the opposing countries but Danny is soon confronted by Doombringer on the UN roof and struggles to overcome him with his super-powered suit. He eventually manages to bring the fight to Luke who battles Doombringer unsuccessfully due to a force field that nullifies his strength and Doombringer threatens to assassinate The Mahdi but is ultimately overcome by the heroes’ cunning before falling into the river.
At the Uni-World Trading Corporation headquarters, two men dubbed Mr. Taylor and Tinker are in conversation about the consequences of Doombringer’s actions, apparently having blamed them for a bombing on their compound in the Middle East. Tinker then suggests they take an option which involves sacrificing Misty and Colleen on their mission in the Middle East.
