Prester John was an Omega that was stationed on Earth to protect the Concordance Engines, although John had lost his.[2]
History
Prester John's history was presumably similar to his mainstream counterpart up to the point he encountered the Defenders at Wundagore Mountain.[3]

Prester John lost his Concordance Engine at some point. He searched time and space for another one and found Prester Omega's Engine under Wundagore Mountain. He planned to escape to a better universe by having the Breaker of Worlds, Nul, break the Engine and tear a hole in space-time. When the Defenders assembled to confront Nul, they were captured by John and a group of New Men that he commanded. However, the Defenders escaped and the Silver Surfer flung John's Stellar Ark, with John and his New Men inside, into deep space.[4]
