Synopsis for "A New Age Dawning?"

Prince Namor demonstrates his fighting prowess in the arena before thousands of adoring Atlanteans before retiring to his palace to deal with the matters of his advisory council. He tires of the mendacity and seeks an adventure, ultimately deciding to take the place of Lord Dara in a visit to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Upon arriving, his presence is greeted by intense media interest, reflecting on his role as a member of the Invaders during World War II and his previous attempt to join the U.N. at the height of McCarthyism. Instead of violent protests, Namor is greeted with cheers upon his second arrival and meets with Jacqueline Trufaut, a French expert on marine biology and sub-sea culture, a U.S. State Department official, and a liaison of the Secretary General. He is pleased with the discussions before leaving to attend matters back in Atlantis.

During his voyage home, he is met by someone called Dragonrider and a massive mutant dragon-like sea creature that he is forced to combat. Despite a fierce battle, Namor ultimately succeeds in luring the creature into an underwater volacano and seriously injuring it, forcing it to flee. He captures the Dragonrider and discovers her to be a member of his own guard. He is unable to successfully establish her intentions and seeks to question her further back home but upon arrival, discovers that her and her dragon had already devastated the city.
