History

Peter Slate was a felony inmate, apparently serving a life sentence for unknown crimes. Moon Knight somehow made contact with Slate and recruited him as an informant for his Shadow Cabinet, codenamed "Psycho". Slate provided Moon Knight with a criminal's perspective, and intelligence from the prison system's network of gossip.

When Moon Knight needed to infiltrate a prison to make contact with Demogoblin, Shark arranged for Psycho to end up in the same wing. Psycho used a device to trigger an electrical blackout for Moon Knight's entry. However, the religious serial killer John DeZoan was on the electrical chair during the overload, and somehow emerged with super-powers as Deadzone. DeZoan initiated a riot and critically wounded Slate, sending him into a coma.
