History
The Pterolyths flyers were a Rider-Caste of human beings who adapted themselves to fly on the backs on these creatures in the upper portion of the atmosphere due to the ground becoming to toxic to support human life after the first attack from the Progenitors.[1]

The Rider walking after his Pterolyth died
They spent most of the time within the confines of the city among the Crystal Towers. But they sometimes traveled to outer parts if someone was in need of transportation as one Rider took the Last Inhuman Maximus to the Obsidian Cliffs so Maximus could translate a story by etching into the stone wall for others to see.[2]
The same Rider later took Maximus to a far out place where they came upon a destroyed space craft which served as a secluded exile for Noh-Varr, the last of the Accusers.[3]
Once Maximus convinced Noh-Varr to travel with them, the Rider took them on their journey until his Pterolyth died from heat exhaustion after they reached the coast. The Rider carried on with them until he to succumbed to the harsh environment of the Stone Forest.[4]Paraphernalia
