Synopsis for 1st story
A man in a long trench coat enters the subway, whistling, and walks up to a lady reading a book. He ruins the ending for her and promptly pushes her onto the railroad track, where is killed by an oncoming train. Her blood sprays across the subway platform and causes a panic.
Watching a news report on the murder (only one in a spray of numerous murders), the Punisher loads his pistol and sets out to stop the killer. After spotting the subway killer on a subway terminal, Castle follows him onto the subway but loses him at the end of the train. The subway killer then pulls up Castle onto the top of the train when Castle is distracted by someone recording him. After the pair were knocked of the train the killer made his escape in the darkness, promising his next kill would be dedicated to Castle.
Continuing to search for the killer, Castle finds a camp of homeless people. He asks around about the owner of the hat he was able to grab of the killer, which is recognised by one of the men in the camp. The man takes him to the killers spot, claiming that the man is a tourist and not actually homeless, and finds that the killer isn't there. Breaking into the spot, Castle finds a large stash of evidence proving the killer lived there and discovers the next kill will be at Columbus Circle. Castle plans to stop the killing and teams up with the homeless man, who reveals his name as Ruthless Ryan, a military veteran.
The killer enters into Columbus Circle subway station and walks up behind a homeless man, planning on pushing him in front of a train. However before he does Castle reveals himself as the homeless man and pulls his gun on the killer. The subway killer grabs a old lady as a hostage and starts making his way onto a subway trains. Before he is able to get onto the train Ruthless Ryan come sup behind him and strikes him across the face with a pot. The subway killer fights back, eventually falling onto the track with Ryan. Castle knocks the subway killer of Ryan and attempts to help Ryan up off the track, made tougher by Rya breaking his leg in the fall. Once Ryan is up, Castle fires on the killers ankles leaving him stuck on the tracks in the way of an incoming train. The killers blood streaks the subway terminal. Ryan is seen as the hero of the day and claims the killing was subway justice. He gets brought into for questioning and the police offer to find him a place to stay for the night.
Watching the latest news reports again, Castle sees Frank give a shout out for him.
RIDE THE PAIN TRAIN!
• The subway can be full of horrible people on a good day, but today… today is NOT a good day.
• Manspreaders, proselytizers, mariachi bands, all in a day’s commute. But a gang of murderous criminals? That’ll ruin even the most jaded New Yorker’s day.
• They aren’t the only scary things lurking underground. Frank Castle has them in his sights. Expect some slight delays.
- First and only known appearance to date besides flashbacks
