Synopsis for "The Spider"
On Tuesday, September 6, 1988, the Punisher, under the alias of Mr. Yousoufian, lured and killed a drug dealer named Denton, although the latter did not bring the agreed upon amount of cash. The Punisher was attempting to earn $250,000 in cash by luring drug dealers and made contact with an Australian named Spider Roque.
At the Hotel Broslin, a girl named Tranh Thi asked the Punisher to help her mother stop choking. Then, under the guise of Mr, Yousoufian, he was about to commence his deal with Spider Roque when the woman he just saved entered the room and was subsequently held at gunpoint by the Australian. "Mr. Yousoufian" pleaded with Roque not to kill the woman and to proceed with their deal. Instead, Roque shot the woman, killing her, and the Punisher, who he recognized.
After his encounter with Roque, the Punisher and Microchip did research on him and searched for his whereabouts. On Saturday, at the Lower East Side, a disguised Punisher interrogated a man and learned that Roque had returned to Australia.
Under the alias of "Laird", the Punisher took a plane to Sydney and met a contact named "Eastman", who sold him weapons, ammunition, and information on Roque's whereabouts.
"Eastman" flew the Punisher to the Outback in his plane and the latter subsequently rented a camel, which he rode to Cooterman's Creek, where he found Roque. After Roque's two colleagues had been killed, he believed that the survivors of a village in Vietnam had hired the Punisher to kill him. The Punisher claimed that he had been paid $100,000 before falling into a pit and offered him an opal worth $50,000 to leave him and allow him to escape the pit. Roque accepted the offer and the Punisher threw a container containing a spider that bit the former, paralyzing him. Then, the Punisher collected Roque's money from under his desk.
In New Jersey, the Punisher decided that he would use the money he gained to get Tranh into a decent home.
Trivia
- When Frank Castle meets with his contact in Australia, they identify to each other as "Eastman" and "Laird", a reference to writer Kevin Eastman and artist Peter Laird.
