Python was the capital of the Acheronian Empire. The city was likely set in Nemedia,[2] possibly on the plain north of Hanumar, though it could as well be located in Aquilonia. The claim of Acheron being set within the Shem-Stygia region on an ancient map was considered an error from the map-maker.[1]
History
At some point, the Yezmites once ruled over Python.[4]
After Acheron's monarch King Bel-Hissar returned from a sea-trip with a newfound jewel later known as the Blood of Bel-Hissar, he was soon afterwards slain in his own palace by a thief who stole it.[5] (see notes)
Years before the Fall of Acheron, Python was shaken by earthquakes that led the Pythonians to believe most of the catacombs had been destroyed, thus offering the conspiring slaves a mean to travel into the very palace.[3]
Fall of Acheron[]
Conan and Red Sonja were pushed there by a time ledge, during the Fall of Acheron, and assisted the rebellion of the Hyborian slaves of Python led by the Shemite woman Mahalat.[3]
During the fall of Python and its invasion of the half-civilized Hybori tribes, Conan and Sonja were transported back to the mirrored cavern of Tuzun Thune.[6]
Many artifacts of Acheron were stolen or dispersed during the sack, including the Heart of Ahriman[6] or the Blood of Bel-Hissar[7] Python was completely destroyed.[8]Points of Interest

Notes
- Python was created by Robert E. Howard, and was mentioned in "The Hyborian Age" I, "Hawks over Shem", "The Flame Knife", "Conan the Buccaneer", and "Conan the Conqueror" I.[1]
- In "The Blood of Bel-Hissar" (Conan the Barbarian #27; June, 1973), Bel-Hissar is mentioned to have been slain in his palace, though no name is given to its location (Python is mentioned on the next panel but not in relation to the palace). This could consequently be the first appearance of Python in Marvel Comics.
