History

Quan Yaozu was one of the first Iron Fists. When the Eighth City was discovered, the other Seven Capital Cities of Heaven dispatched the Immortal Weapons to help send demonic creatures there. The gateway could not be opened unless all the weapons combined their chi. However, some of the demons were able to keep the doorway opened from the other side, and therefore, impossible to seal. Quan Yaozu took it upon himself to travel to the other side and close the doorway.

While Quan remained trapped, the Yu-Ti Nu-An used the Eighth City as his personal dungeon and began imprisoning citizens who spoke out against his rule, including innocents. The Yu-Ti's corruption made Quan disillusioned with protecting K'un-Lun and he eventually rose up as the Eighth City's new ruler, Changming.

In the present day, Nu-An was ousted from K'un-Lun and replaced by Lei-Kung, who sent the current Iron Fist Danny Rand and the Immortal Weapons to the Eighth City to free the people Nu-An wrongfully imprisoned. Upon their arrival, Quan had the group captured and forced them to fight the demons within the city in various matches in his area. Quan challenged Rand himself and revealed his identity and past to him. When the Immortal Weapons broke free and released the prisoners, Quand had Rand lead him out of the Eighth City to be taken to K'un-Lun. Upon arriving outside the gate, he was attacked by Davos, who had been sent by Lei-Kung to assassinate Quan. Danny saved Quan from Davos, which convinced him that K'un-Lun was no longer corrupt and he peacefully requested an audience with Lei-Kung.

However, according to Orson Randall, Quan allegedly manipulated the Book of the Iron Fist to hide certain truths from his successors that would lead them do their deaths, including Danny when he was killed by the Ch'i-Lin-posessed Razor Fist. When Danny was resurrected as the Ghost Fist by an unknown entity, he was ordered enact revenge on Quan by taking his heart for judgement before a certain time limit. Aware of Danny's resurrection as the Ghost Fist and of his limited time, Quan sent the Wraithlins to stall Danny while he waited for him at the Rand Building.

• Originally, Quan Yaozu was said to be the first Iron Fist. However, that was later retconned with the revelation that the first Iron Fist was Fan Fei circa 1,000,000 BC.
