History

Harderman was the lead proponent of the "Committee for America to Regain its Principles". Its primary focus portrayed Captain America as a reckless, loose cannon and a vigilante. The Committee also propelled the image of Moonstone, a new American hero. Captain America eventually exposed Harderman and the plot to discredit him.

Trivia

• In line with Secret Empire leader being modelled after Richard Nixon, Harderman appears to be a based on H. R. Haldeman. Haldeman was Nixon's Chief of Staff and one of the key figures in the Watergate scandal.
