Sins of Sinister: First Decade[]
The Quiet Council's existance mirrors that of its mainstream counterpart as a governing body proposed to rule the mutant-exclusive nation of Krakoa, which was founded by Professor Xavier under the guidance of Moira and the secret knowledge she had gathered across multiple lives through her gift reincarnation.[1] After the schism between Xavier and Moira, the Quiet Council became aware of Moira's true origins.[2] The vile councilman Mister Sinister saw the revelation as an opportunity to weaponize the reincarnation powers through cloning for his interests in the form of the Moira Engine. As such, he had access to an apparatus that allowed him to generate safe-points in the timeline and reset events to achieve his goals.[3]
Following Judgement Day, Mister Sinister activated his sixth safe-point to carry out his plot of killing key members of the Quiet Council. After ten attempts, he murdered Professor Xavier, Emma Frost, Exodus and, most importantly, Hope.[4] Hope's death allowed him to pervert the Krakoan Resurrection Protocols by introducing his genome in the essence of those who were revived. After activating his seventh Moira as a safe-point and starting a new trial at the timeline, Mister Sinister was sentenced by the Quiet Council of Krakoa to the Pit of Exile, although those he had murdered were already corrupted to his sinful goals. Foreseeing the dreadful fate of the Quiet Council, the clairvoyant Destiny removed herself and her wife Mystique from their seats.[5] The resurrected and corrupted Professor Xavier, Emma Frost, Exodus, and Hope pushed the Quiet Council to extend the Resurrection Protocols to previously unseen reach, secretly turning several victims into Sinister.[6]
One year later, the Sinister strain had already infected important individuals on Earth. The Quiet Council then lobotomized Krakoa to break Mister Sinister free. They blamed the anti-mutant organization Orchis for the attack, which prompted the X-Men to join forces with the Avengers to destroy them for good. In five years, the Quiet Council secretly orchestrated events to finish Thanos, Doctor Doom, the Eternals, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, becoming the most influential power on Earth. Other members of the Quiet Council were corrupted, namely Sebastian Shaw, Kate Pryde, and Colossus. The vacant seats were filled by Namor, Beast, and Magik. In an all-sinister Council, only Storm and Nightcrawler were not corrupted. Having succumbed to be a monstrosity due to a magical spell, Nightcrawler was replaced by a clone. Storm saw through the charade and was met by Mister Sinister himself, who had the Quiet Council attack her. Storm managed to escape and, with her departure, Mister Sinister retook his position in the now Quiet Council of Sinisters.[6]
In ten years, Shaw contaminated the Waiting Room to become a hell-lord and exert the Quiet Council's influence on the Infernal Parliament, Magik unleashed chaos on Asgard forcing them to retreat, the Scarlet Witch was murdered, and Mister Sinister started his experiments on combining mutant genes in Chimeras. The Quiet Council had absolute control over Earth and no longer wished to hide their status as the Empire of the Red Diamond. They decided to expand their control over the universe, making a move against the Galactic Council. This asserted their independence from Mister Sinister, who wished not to provoke war against galactic empires in order to focus on preventing the machine ascension. In desperation, Mister Sinister resorted to his Moira Engine, only to find it had been stolen[6] by Orbis Stellaris.[7] He defected and was hunted down by Frost. In order to be forgiven and accepted back into the Quiet Council, he offered the designs of a new generation of Chimeras with up to five powers in one body, a crucial asset for the intergalactic wars the Quiet Council wished to embark on.[8]
Sins of Sinister: First Century[]
Immorally using mutant Chimeras, the Quiet Council conquered several civilizations as the decades went by: the Shi'ar succumbed to Xavier's telepathy, enhanced by hybrid brains of Farouk and Somnus; Hope took Otherworld down, overpowering its Siegelords thanks to the first triple Chimera formed by the genes of Meggan, Maggott and Madrox; Mister Sinister used the powers of omega-level mutants as a bomb in the form of Proteus, Legion and Polaris to obliterate Xandar; and Magik finally had the opportunity to destroy All-Father Thor and ruin Asgard.[9] At some point, the Quiet Council was able to end Mystique and the Freedom Force, although Storm kept being an opposing force. One century after Mister Sinister's infection, the surviving alien forces resisted the Quiet Council in the Compact, most prominently the Kree / Skrull Alliance ruled by Emperor Dorrek.[10]
When Commander Hope and Exodus ran a mission to overcome the Chitauri, Hope was betrayed by Exodus. Abandoned and powerless amidst a Chitauri horde, Hope succumbed as Exodus sought her as dispensable and more useful as martyr rather than a live messiah. Another fragile membership was Mister Sinister's. After almost a hundred years, he finally introduced the Council to his first stable five-powered chimera, the just Rasputin IV. Secretly, he was also visited by Mother Righteous, who informed him about her and Orbis Stellaris' parallel race to also achieve a dominion. Mister Sinister ultimately decided to run away by freeing Rasputin IV from his influence. As he had programmed her to be honorable and heroic, Rasputin IV joined him in his quest to combat the Quiet Council of Sinisters and acquire the Moira Engine back to restore and revert the perversion he had ignited.[10]See Also
