The jungle lad [David Rand] met Quog, the wild pig, and stayed that beast's startled flight with a friendly call. 
History
Quog was a warthog that lived in the Belgian Congo during the 1930s and the 1940s. He befriended young David Rand who became orphaned. David was then raised by Zar the lion and became the jungle adventurer known as Ka-Zar.[2] Later Quog was captured by big-game hunter Steve Hardy, but was ultimately rescued by Ka-Zar.[3] His subsequent activities are unrevealed.
